The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement indicating two persons of the Democracy Hub demonstration case are admitted at the Police Hospital for medical care, following their complaints of ill health.
The protesters were arrested on September 23, 2024 for going against an injection that was secured by the police to halt the demonstration.
“Suspect Fanny Otoo, on Tuesday 24th September 2024, complained to the Police that he was indisposed, as the suspects in the case were being prepared for court. The Police sent him to the Police Hospital in Accra, where doctors at the hospital attended to him and later admitted him for further treatment” portion of it read.
It added that “Suspect Oliver Barker-Vormawor, was also taken to the Police Hospital for medical attention, having reported sick late last night, Tuesday 24th September 2024, where doctors assessed his condition and subsequently admitted him for treatment”.
Meanwhile Lawyer of the protesters has lamented of the police not given him access to his clients.
The Police noted that it has “at no point in time have the Police denied these suspects any medical attention”.
