Two nurses sacked for ‘ignoring patients’, going live on Facebook while at work

Two Ghanaian nurses, who have been identified as Tracy Ewurama and Ramatu are reportedly on the chopping board after going live on Facebook while at work.

According to reports, video of the nurses going live on Facebook went viral after Adom FM shared it on its Facebook page.

Consequently, the management of the Royal MMR Hospital, where the two nurses worked, were shocked and appalled by the fact the two nurses “chose to do Facebook Live while at work and responded to [ads1]comments at the expense of patients awaiting to seek health care”.

The two nurses were reportedly sanctioned and some unconfirmed reports stated that they had been sacked from their workplace.

A doctor with the hospital, Dr. Mohammed Donkor, however, confirmed to Adom News that the two had been fired by the management of the hospital as their conduct was in breach of company regulations.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has lended a voice to the saga saying that the conduct of the two nurses were completely against the conduct allowed in the nursing profession.

According to them, investigations have stated and the two nurses might be removed from the nursing association if found to be guilty.

Public relations officer of The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Douglas Adu Fokuo, revealed that the association might offer them psychological care. Meanwhile, a section of Ghanaians have commensurate with the two nurses saying that nurses ought to be able to have a private life as others have agreed that their conduct was flouting the integrity of the nursing profession.
