The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Roads and Transport Committee, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, says Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe will be summoned to respond to concerns surrounding the recent arrival of two aircraft in Ghana under unexplained circumstances.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, Osei Nyarko explained that Parliament is keen to get to the bottom of the issue, but not through surprise visits or unofficial routes.

“We don’t want to ambush the minister by going to the agency without even informing him or going through him,” he said. “We prefer to use the minister who oversees these agencies so that he can feed the information to us.”

He said the move is only the beginning of a broader effort to ensure transparency and accountability in the matter.

“This is the initial step we are taking to get more information… If nothing wrong happened, that’s fine. But if something did, we must know who was responsible, who gave clearance, and whether protocol was breached.”

Osei Nyarko emphasised that the concern extends beyond partisan politics, pointing out that the Ghanaian public deserves clarity.

“It’s not a matter of the Minority. It’s a matter for all Ghanaians. The Ghanaian public is interested in knowing exactly what happened.”
