The Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tamale South Constituency, Abubakari Abdallah Red, has resigned from his position. He tendered his resignation letter on Monday, April 15.
“I write to officially inform you about my decision to resign as Communications Director for Tamale South Constituency,” Mr. Abdallah wrote in a letter intercepted by Awakenewsroom.
Though he indicated that the reason for his resignation is “personal”, there is more to the issue.
In a brief phone conversation with Awakenewsroom, Abdallah revealed that he resigned due to the ‘autocratic’ tendencies of the constituency chairman who is popularly called Chairman Mozele.
According to him, the chairman acts in a manner that goes against the smooth running of the party in the Tamale South Constituency. He also indicated that the chairman often fails to provide his outfit with the needed funds and support to carry out tasks in the media environment.
“I have issues with the constituency chairman. He’s not been fair to the people of Tamale South. And I cannot be part of such team and later go around complaining that I’m part of the decision making. So, it’s appropriate for me to resign now so that I can have a message for my people,” Mr. Abdallah confided in Awakenewsroom.
He continued that the chairman “is someone who doesn’t consult all of us before making decisions. He doesn’t consider the interest of the party and party folks in the constituency.”
