Tensions are running high in Gomoa Obuasi, a small town in the Central Region, after a group of unidentified individuals launched a violent attack on the palace of the local chief, Nana Mbir Asomako.
The attack, which occurred in a night, left the palace in shambles, with several buildings and vehicles destroyed.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, numbering around 20, stormed the palace, armed with guns, machetes, and other deadly weapons
They allegedly set fire to several buildings, including the chief’s residence, and vandalized several vehicles.
The attackers also made away with several valuables, including cash, jewelry, and other personal effects.
Nana Mbir Asomako, who is still shaken by the attack, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to deploy additional security personnel to the area to restore order and prevent further unrest.
The chief has also expressed concern about the safety of his people, stating that the attack has created a sense of fear and uncertainty in the community.
The police have launched investigations into the incident, with sources indicating that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for the violence.
