The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in an intelligence-led operation over alleged weapon smuggling in Savelugu, Northern Region.

According to a statement from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, the suspects identified as Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus were apprehended on May 1, 2025, from their hideouts.

During the operation, police recovered an arsenal of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, a Sub Machine Gun, a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol, a single-barrel shotgun, two magazines, 15 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 13 rounds of pistol ammunition, 27 additional rounds, and five BB cartridges.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Authorities have assured that the individuals will be processed through the legal system to face justice.
