A known youth activist and member of the major opposition NDC communication team, Elikem Kotoko has lashed at the Akufo-Addo led government emphasizing the opposition’s position that corruption has been institutionalized under the leadership of this NPP regime.
He went further to state that the singular achievement that the NPP can be proud of as a government is their success at making corruption look attractive and the speed of light with which a sitting president is always quick to pronounce judgement of “not guilty” on his appointees anytime anyone of them was fingered in an corruption related scandal.
Elikem made these comments on national television, GTV’s newspaper discussion programme on last Friday morning, August 09, 2019.
The young outspoken gentleman didn’t mince words when he stated that gradually Ghanaians are beginning to not only regret their choice of president Akufo-Addo but accepted that they were deceived into voting a nepotistic, corrupt and vindictive government into power. On that basis, the one time National Coordinating Secretary of the Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students said that if asked now what the time was, his answer was that “THE TIME IS CORRUPTION O’CLOCK”
Elikem Kotoko, a known firebrand and critic of the NPP government led by His Excellency Akufo-Addo challenged the NPP to state on record of any week ever went by without any corruption scandal about the government.
The host of the morning programme, Daniel asked Elikem what he expects government to do moving forward, and his simple answer was that government returns to the citizenry and apologize for the numerous promises and failure to fight corruption.
The NPP representative on the programme, Daniel Essah in his submission asked Elikem to hold his fire and not politicize every issue because the topic under discussion was the latest update on the 3 kidnapped girls of TAKORADI.
In one of his submissions, Elikem Kotoko reiterated the position of Ghanaians that the Ghana Police CID has been compromised and he went further to say that the boss of the CID, Madam Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has been very ineffective, incompetent, insensitive and demonstrated her inability to occupy and discharge her duties diligently in her position considering her recklessly unguarded commentary which has gained legendary status when she came out to officially communicate the the world that she and her personnel have found the exact location of the kidnapped girls and that not long, they will be rescued and returned home to be with their families.
Elikem did state that the insensitivity displayed by government also adds to deepens or bruise the pain of the families when the sitting president blatantly refused to visit the families in TAKORADI, during his tour of the Western Region but instead went to Axim only to make a statement on the issue. He asked why the president was able to quickly visit the Chief of Dixcove who was assaulted and refused to do same to the families of the kidnapped girls. According to Elikem, knowing our tradition and culture as Ghanaians and for that matter African, morality required of both the first and second ladies to have st least visited and commiserated with the families but that has also been non-existent.
Elikem Kotoko, concluded by making taking a swipe at the NPP saying their answer to every question posed by Ghanaians now is “FREE SHS”
