Mr. Kevin Taylor’s LoudSilence Television who is known for such philanthropic acts made the donation through his friend, National Deputy Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress, Elikem Kotoko.

In a message conveyed to the victims Mr. Kotoko admonished the market women to consider insuring their wares against occurrences like this to cushion them against any unforeseen circumstance. He also implored the Fire Service and Ghana Police Service to intensify investigations to ascertain the source or cause of fire and if found to be arson, the perpetrator(s) brought to book.

The Regional Chief Fire Officer who was represented by one of his delegates advised the women to either desist from turning their shops into kitchens where often they fail to quench any fires they set, she also stated that illegal connections sometimes also resort into such fires as well as smoking by the men. Further, she didn’t rule out arson and assures that the final report will soon be submitted to the authorities for onward action.

Receiving the ten (10) solar street lights and GhC100,000.00 on behalf of the market fire victims, Mr. Joshua Basintale who is the Bono East Regional Coordinating Director thanked LoudSilence TV and Eyes on the Ballot for the kind gesture stressing the relief this will bring to the victims.

The leader of the market men and women, Mr. Zuka Mohammed who spoke on behalf of his colleagues couldn’t hide his excitement and emotions over the donation. He thanked Mr. Kevin Taylor and his team. The market women in particular were chanting various accolades and appreciation songs in honour of Mr Kevin Taylor who extended similar gesture towards the flood victims of the Akosombo dam spillage in the Volta region.
