The Tano South MCE has denied Awake News’ earlier reports that he has been indited in the Auditor General’s report for allegedly diverting public funds.

The MCE in a rejoined signed by his Aide, Nicholas Opoku Agyemang and copied Awake News’ described the publication as “malicious, scandalous, defamatory and false publication” asking “Should the MCE be held responsible for a staff’s misconduct and corrupt acts?.”

“If not for malicious intent and ill will, will a news portal worth its salt link the misconduct and a corrupt act of a staff to the MCE and publish such falsehood?

Where on Allah’s green earth will an audit report that has cited someone to have engaged in a corrupt act be attributed to the head of the organisation?” – the statement added

REJOINDER ON TANO SOUTH MCE EXPOSED: AG’s REPORT INDICTS HIM FOR ALLEGEDLY DIVERTING PUBLIC FUNDS

The Office of the Tano South Municipal Chief Executive’s attention has been drawn to a malicious, scandalous, defamatory and false publication made by www.awakenewsroom.com published on September 1st, 2019 captioned ”Tano South MCE Exposed: AG’s report indicts him for allegedly diverting public funds”.

It is extremely unfortunate that a news portal would resort to mudslinging, tarnishing the reputation and casting aspersions on the integrity of the Municipal Chief Executive for Tano South. This is our estimation is a deliberate attempt by political detractors to tarnish the image of the MCE

In the said publication, they claimed the Auditor General’s Report on the public accounts of District Assemblies for the financial year which ended on 31st December, 2018 indicated that an amount of Ten Thousand Four Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,400) was diverted into an unknown account in 2018 and that the MCE for Tano South couldn’t account for the said amount after providing a fake name (James Kwame Amoah) for auditing

First and foremost, let me state unequivocally and without any shred of doubt that out of one hundred and fifty-six (156) staff working under Tano South Municipal Assembly, there is no person who bears the name James Kwame Amoah.

Moreover, staff of Tano South Municipal Assembly are paid either by the Central Government through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department( CAGD) or through the Internally Generated Fund(IGF) of the Assembly. It is instructive to know that the Human Resource (HR) Manager of the Assembly validates the staff to ensure that they work at the Assembly and are regular and punctual before they are being paid at the end of every month of which the MCE is not privy the amount of money each of them receive

Again, let us assume without admitting that James Kwame Amoah is a staff of Tano South Municipal Assembly and has been cited for taking double salary:

– Is it not strange, ridiculous and laughable for one to conclude that the MCE for Tano South has diverted public funds because a worker at the Assembly has been cited for double salary?

– Should the MCE be held responsible for a staff’s misconduct and corrupt acts?

– If not for malicious intent and ill will, will a news portal worth its salt link the misconduct and a corrupt act of a staff to the MCE and publish such falsehood?

– Where on Allah’s green earth will an audit report that has cited someone to have engaged in a corrupt act be attributed to the head of the organisation?

I will also implore the general public to read the Auditor General’s report of 2018 in entirety particularly on Brong- Ahafo and you would realize that Tano South Municipal Assembly under the leadership and watch of Hon Collins Offinam Takyi, the MCE for Tano South,is one of the municipalities with less infractions if not no infractions ever since he assumed office due to his vigilance and meticulousness in the use of public funds

It is refreshing to note that the Tano South Municipal Assembly headed by Hon. Collins Offinam Takyi has written a letter to the external auditors who carried the audit to furnish the Assembly with further and better particulars to help us know the identity of James Kwame Amoah, the person cited in the Auditor-General’s report in 2018 for taking double salary. We will also request that people who know the identity of the said James Kwame Amoah should contact the Assembly to furnish us with his details

We are very much aware of political detractors like www.awakenewsroom.com and their ilk who from day one that the MCE assumed office have sworn heaven and earth to humiliate, malign and denigrate him in other for him to be exited from office. But we can assure them that they have a long way to go on this path that they have chosen and that the MCE is focussed and determined to make Tano South a better place to live

I will at this juncture entreat the general public to treat this story published by www.awakenewsroom.com as utter falsehood and lies and should be disregarded as such

Thank you!
