The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has today 1st February 2018 inaugurated its first regional chapter for sports journalist in the Volta Region.
[ads1]The ceremony, held in the regional capital of Ho, was attended by the National President, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, the General Secretary and some other media personalities. The Volta Chapter is the first ever regional branch to be inaugurated in the 50 years history of the association.
In his speech, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah said, he was very excited to grace such an event and added that it was a long-held dream for him to see a more decentralized SWAG been brought to the regional level across the nation.
“Fortunately, today’s event in really significant because it coincides with the Association’s 50 years anniversary celebration and it’s a significant milestone”. He said.
“This should be a stepping stone for the further expansion of the Association in other regions”.
“I believe other regions would take an inspiration from our colleagues in the Volta region and organise themselves for us to open beaches in those regions”, he added.
The astute journalist admonished members to be diligent in their reportage and uphold a high sense of professionalism in other to gain credibility and remain relevant to the listeners.
“Being members of SWAG means we must be associated with excellence. So I advise you to be true professionals”, he added.
Mr. Kwabena Yeboah took the opportunity to share his experience and some personal life issues with the members.
