Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, has firmly told the President of Ghana that he will not allow misleading statements to deceive the public.

Dr. Nsiah Asare strongly disagreed with the president’s claim that only one of the Agenda 111 hospitals had been completed by the previous administration.

He pointed out that such statements were inaccurate and urged the president to ensure he gets his facts straight before sharing information with Ghanaians.

Dr. Nsiah Asare made it clear that, before the previous government left office, three of the Agenda 111 hospitals had already been completed and officially commissioned. Therefore, he was taken aback by the president’s claim that only one hospital had been finished.

He suggested that if the current administration lacked knowledge on how to fund the ongoing projects, the president should simply ask for guidance, rather than making misleading statements.

“By January 6, 2025, when we left office, 101 projects had already been initiated. This included two regional psychiatric hospitals and 99 district or municipal hospitals. More than 36 of these projects were over 70% complete. Additionally, three of the hospitals were commissioned on December 5, 2024,” he said.

Dr. Nsiah Asare also addressed the president’s assertion that the hospitals lacked equipment, insisting that beds and other essential equipment were already in place for the hospitals that had been commissioned.

He emphasized that for the projects over 70% complete, the necessary equipment had already been procured, and they would be installed once the hospitals were fully ready.

He further stated, “During the commissioning, photos were taken, and it was clear that the hospitals were equipped with beds and everything needed to operate. This time, we will not allow anyone to deceive the public. If the president is struggling with funding, he should acknowledge that the resources are already available through the budget and oil proceeds.”

Dr. Nsiah Asare’s comments reflect his determination to ensure transparency and hold the government accountable for the progress of the Agenda 111 project.
