Stonebwoy’s Public Relations Officer, Vida Adutwumwaa, has sparked a heated debate online after questioning King Promise’s qualifications for the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the upcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
During a lively appearance on a televised entertainment panel on April 18, 2025, Vida went head-to-head with Tilly Akua Nipaa, who serves as King Promise’s PR representative. The two exchanged sharp words as they defended their respective artistes’ achievements over the past year.
Adutwumwaa did not hold back in her critique. She argued that despite King Promise’s popularity, his impact in 2024 did not match the standard expected of an Artiste of the Year contender. “You claim Stonebwoy is regressing because you’re comparing his metrics this year to previous ones. But if that logic holds, let’s look at King Promise, his growth hasn’t been remarkable either. Shouldn’t that raise the same concerns?” she fired back.
One of the most compelling points she raised was the frequency of live performances. “King Promise only performed at 10 shows throughout 2024,” she disclosed, drawing comparisons to Stonebwoy’s packed schedule, which included numerous live band performances. “That level of limited engagement doesn’t reflect an artist who is leading the industry,” she added.
Adutwumwaa’s comments have since gone viral, garnering widespread support on social media. Many users praised her for offering a data-driven perspective and for pushing for a more holistic and fair approach to evaluating artistes’ achievements.
