Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Same, has been ordered to stay away from the ongoing controversial ambulance case.
The directive was issued today, Thursday, June 6, at the court by Justice Afia Serwah Asare Botwe of the Court of Appeal. Justice Botwe is sitting as an additional High Court judge in the case involving Cassiel Ato Forson, Minority Leader of Parliament and one Richard Jakpa.
According to the judge, Godfred Dame has to distance himself from the trial due to professional and prosecutorial misconduct.
The directive came after the court declined jurisdiction to order an enquiry and mistrial based on the prosecutorial misconduct of the Attorney-General.
The court, however, directed Cassiel Ato Forson to seek redress at the appropriate place; either at the General Legal Council (GLC) or the Ghana Bar Association (GBA).
Meanwhile, the infamous recorded telephone conversation between Mr Jakpa and the A-G has been admitted into evidence despite resistance from the Attorney-General, who unsuccessfully argued that the tape should not be admitted as evidence.
