NATIONAL UNION OF TONGU STUDENTS AND ASSOCIATES (NUTSA) HOLDS 2017 ANNUAL QUIZ COMPETITION.

Education is a key to success. Thus, a society’s development is measured by how many enlightened people are in it since education serves as the backbone of both professional and environmental development.

It is against this background that NUTSA initiated an Annual quiz competition some years back to inspire academic success among students in schools in the three Tongu districts.

This year’s edition took off with a preliminary which was in two phases. Phase one (1) featured six schools and was held at St. Catherine Senior High School. The second phase saw four schools squaring it off at Aveyime Battor Senior High school.

The expected major contenders in phase 1 were: Adidome Senior High School, Mafi Kumase Senior High School, Sogakope Senior High School, Dabala Senior High School, Comboni Vocational and Technical Institute and St. Catherine Senior High School. However, Sogakope and Mafi Kumase Senior High Schools could not turn up for the competition due to some circumstances beyond their control.

Phase 2, on the other hand, was made up of Aveyime Senior High School, Battor Senior High School, Dorfor Senior High School and St. Kizito Senior High School. Unfortunately, Battor Senior High School could not make it for the competition due to some unforeseen challenges.
The first and second placeholders in both phases were then slated for the grand finale.

St. Catherine Senior High School and Adidome Senior High School with first and second positions respectively qualified from phase 1 for the final. Likewise, Dorfor Senior High School and St. Kizito with first and second positions respectively also qualified from phase 2 for final. Nonetheless, Dorfor Senior High School could not show up for the program.

The final which was held in Adidome Senior High School on the 7th July has seen a massive improvement over last year, in the performance of the participants from the various schools. This means the aim of the program to awaken, motivate and rekindle learning skills among students is yielding an effect. The award package for all the participants at the preliminary stages comprises certificates and learning materials such as books of past questions, exercise books, pens and many others.

St. Kizito Senior High School was the overall winner of the competition. Adidome Senior High School and St. Catherine Senior High School emerged as first and second runner-up respectively.

National executives and entire members of the association wish to express their profound gratitude to their Members of parliament in persons of Hon. Alexander Gabby Hottordze, Hon. Kobby Woyome and Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah for Central Tongu, South Tongu and North Tongu respectively.

We will like to acknowledge Mr. Ben Tsey Quarshie, Mr. Enerst Anderson Adzrago, Mr. Keku Prosper and GLOWDEP, a Non Governmental Organisation founded by Mrs. Victoria Amaglo Norgbey for their donations towards the grand finale of National Union of Tongu Students and Associates annual quiz competition program.

We also appreciate the efforts and help of the various district Assemblies, the teaching and non teaching staffs of the various schools, our chief Patron, Hon. Confidence Abotsi and other sponsors for sponsoring this all important program right from beginning to end. We are most grateful.

And we pray the schools and students to work hard and contribute to the development of Tongu and Ghana as whole.
