The District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for South Dayi constituency in the Volta Region, Courage Kwame Kokroko, has been rejected by Assembly members in a vote cast held on Thursday, April 3.

Mr. Kokroko was rejected in the first round after he polled 14 ‘yes’ votes against 16 ‘no’ votes in what many see as a threat to his nomination.

In the second round of voting, the nominee polled 19 ‘yes’ votes against 12 ‘no’ votes, representing 61.2%. This shows that the nominee has failed to secure 2/3 of the vote, which is needed in order to be confirmed.

Mr. Kokroko and his team, however, have a few days to convince the assembly members to give him the nod.

The rejection is the first to be recorded in the Volta Region as nominees in three constituencies where voting was held yesterday, all secured 100% approval from assembly members.
