Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he feels a deep responsibility to win the Premier League title in front of fans who can finally enjoy it the right way. The Reds last lifted the trophy in the 2019/20 season, but celebrations were limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. Fans were kept out of stadiums, and a title parade was never held, leaving many feeling robbed of the joy that comes with such a historic achievement.
“It’s a big responsibility because we are aware of the fact that the last time this club won the league, it was during COVID times,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “Everybody is looking forward to Sunday, but there’s still a job to be done. We need one point, and hopefully our fans know that and support us as they have done all season.”
Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield this Sunday, needing just a draw to clinch the title. While expectations are high, Slot urged both players and supporters to stay focused.
“The game has to be played against a Tottenham side that is still fighting for something important,” he added. “They want to be ready for the Europa League, and we are only thinking about this next opponent.”
Slot emphasized the need for discipline and unity as they chase the final result to crown a remarkable season. “We will prepare like we have all year, and I trust the players and fans to bring the same energy and mentality to get us over the line,” he said.
A win or draw will give Liverpool fans the celebration they missed four years ago—this time with the roar of Anfield behind them.
