Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has expressed satisfaction with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s management of the economy.
He said his uncle, Nana Addo is busy fixing the mess and rot bequeathed to him by former President John Mahama.
[ads1]He has admonished Mahama to be quiet over his recent criticism of the government adding that Nana Addo has turned the fortunes of the country around for good.
His comment comes after Mahama made an extraordinary statement that encapsulates the government’s approach to the economic policy.
Explaining the government’s proposed changes to small-business taxation, he described the approach to extract more taxes to kill businesses in the country.
He said businesses are already suffering and any attempt to increase VAT will cripple them totally.
But Gabby has asked the former President to keep quiet.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, 14 July 2018, he said: “Certainly, the reckless way the NDC ran down the economy in 8yrs (lest we forget), called for creative and intelligent measures to satisfy three things: manage the debt crisis; keep the state machinery running and; deliver on your own promises. The Akufo-Addo government found a way in 2017 and will continue to find ways that will keep faith with the people of Ghana. Be in no doubt. And, please, can somebody out there tell John Mahama to shush! It is not his fault, though. The NPP has been kind to him on the havoc he caused to the economy”.
