For his passion, love for education and supporting the needy in the society, the Sempe Muslim Akwashongtse, Nii Adote Odaawulu I, who doubles as Supreme Head Of Gbese Sonmenaa ( Nii Doku III) in collaboration with Cellsonjay Foundation and Project have on Friday, December 1, donated assorted stationaries, food and other items to the affected victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage in Mepe.
The donation was in line with a request by the Chiefs and elders of Mepe in the Volta Region. According to him a delegation was sent to Mepe to ascertain the situation and interact with the Chief and elders to know the actual needs of the victims for a right donation which informed the decision to donate stationaries and School Uniforms to some schools including private Schools in the community.
He said, the entourage had the opportunity to visit the affected flood areas adding that the situation is devastating and have affected more than 2000 houses with over 12000 people rendered homeless.
He therefore called for more of such donations to help fellow brothers and sisters in the Volta Region.
The donation of stationaries and School Uniforms will serve as a reminder that there is school after the disaster as well as to motivate children of school going age to focus on their education despite the flood.
The Akwashongtse who doubles as the Supreme family head of Gbese Sonnenaa (Nii Doku III ) also organized a party for the kids in Mepe with food and drinks to make the kids feel special.
The 3 days of sewing school uniforms brought joy and happiness to the affected victims and expressed their views on how it will help them with their families adding that free sewing will help them patch their torn clothes.
The Sempe Akwashongtse expressed his surprise when he went to meet a group of Sempe extract living in Mepe land who are known as the Adote’s which he said is a new thing to him and was much impressed to meet them and visit the ancestral homes to offer a special prayers.
He called on the people of Mepe to remain united and live in harmony with one another and encourage them the have hope in Ghanaians as they are doing their best to help them out of their current situation.
The Akwashongtse and his entourage expressed their gratitude to the people of Mepe for the warm hospitality accorded them and further especially gratitude to Torgbe Korsi Nego VI, Mankralo of Mepe Traditional Council his Elders and Chiefs and the Member of Parliament For North Tongu Constituency Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa during their visit.
The Mankralo of Mepe Traditional Council, Torgbe Korsi Nego VI togethr with his elders and the MP for North Tongu who received the item on behalf of the people of Mepe expressed gratitude for the kind gesture and prayed for the Sempe Muslim Akwashongtse and his entourage.
