Sekou Nkrumah, the youngest child of Ghana’s founding father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has sharply criticized independent presidential candidates Alan John Kyerematen, founder of the Movement for Change, and Nana Kwame Bediako—popularly known as Cheddar, founder of the New Force movement—dismissing their political ambitions as “a waste of time.”
According to Nkrumah, neither Kyerematen nor Cheddar has the capacity to change the country’s fortunes, despite the fact that both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
He further argued that Cheddar lacks the political experience needed to present a credible alternative to the NDC-NPP duopoly. As for Kyerematen, Nkrumah noted that despite his years of service in various ministerial positions under the current government, he has little to show in terms of significant achievements.
In a Facebook post, Sekou Nkrumah wrote, “Although it is obvious that NPP and NDC have fallen short of our expectations, it will be naive to think that out of the blue a new force can come and change all that!”
“Alan Cash cannot do that, and Cheddar cannot do that either! They are both a waste of time and space! One has no depth or political experience, and the other served in several governments as minister with nothing to write home about!,” he added.
