The immediate past national vice chairman of the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress, H.E. Alhaji Said Sinare, has applauded the Supreme Court for granting justice to former Attorney General, Mr. Daniel Yao Domelevo.
He noted that the ruling of the Supreme Court reflects the will of the people of Ghana, though justice was delayed.
He posted these comments on Facebook after the former Attorney General won a case against the government at the Supreme Court.
In July 2020, the Presidency asked the then-Auditor General to proceed on leave.
When Mr. Domelevo pointed this out as illegitimate, his leave was further extended from 123 days to 167 days, effective July 1, 2020.
But Mr. Sinare stated that “Mr. Dormelevo’s judgment reflects the will of the people of Ghana and is a success of democracy and due process in our nation’s history, for which I applaud the apex court panel for rightfully setting aside the erroneous, unconstitutional, and undemocratic conduct of the Nana Addo Danqua-led NPP government”.
He added that, though the ruling came late,it has exposed the haplessness and wickedness of the ruling government towards the tenets of democracy in the country.
“Despite the fact that the Supreme Court’s decision in this “specific matter”, came at a time when the bones were already rotten and amounted to a death warrant for a corpse, it has exposed the ruling NPP government’s haplessness and wickedness towards the principles of our democracy,” he added.
He ended his message by congratulating the former Attorney General, Mr. Daniel Yao Domelevo, for testing the law.
READ HIS FULL STATEMENT BELOW.
Mr. Dormelevo’s judgment reflects the will of the people of Ghana and is a success of democracy and due process in our nation’s history, for which I applaud the Apex Court panel for rightfully setting aside the erroneous, unconstitutional, and undemocratic conduct of the Nana Addo Danqua-led NPP government.
Despite the fact that the Supreme Court’s decision in this “specific matter”, came at a time when the bones were already rotten and amounted to a death warrant for a corpse, it has exposed the ruling NPP government’s haplessness and wickedness toward the principles of our democracy and once more sent a clear message to a person who ought to have known better.
Once again, I congratulate my friend and brother, Mr. Daniel Dormelevo, on his victory at the Supreme Court today.
