Communications Minister, Sam George, has authorized the dismissal of nearly 100 staff members at Ghana Post Limited due to irregularities in their recruitment process.
These employees were hired after the December 7, 2024, elections, a period during which the minister claims proper procedures were not followed.
Sam George expressed his commitment to cleaning up the ministry, emphasizing that he could not work with staff whose employment was flawed. “I cannot inherit such a mess,” he said, referring to the irregular recruitment of 600 individuals after the election.
The minister explained that the improper recruitment had caused inefficiencies in the department and reiterated his goal to make the ministry leaner, more efficient, and focused on its responsibilities.
The government has been reviewing post-election public sector hires, noting that many were made without following established protocols.
