GHAMRO is an institution set under the copy right law, Act 690 of 2005 and regulated under L.I. 196 of 2010 to collect and distribute royalties to artistes over the years has received a lot of lashes from musician over the amount of money they receive as royalties after some period of time.

However, the ‘Vera hitmaker’ has revealed that the monies that are paid to musicians as royalties can’t even buy a bottle of champagne at his Onyx night club.

He told Dr. Pounds on Accra base hitz FM that in 2016 some official from GHAMRO called him to inform him that all A list artistes and producers in the country have qualified to get royalties of GH600 and was told to make available his mobile money number for the money to be paid in.

He also added that B listed artistes were paid 450 cedis.

He questioned the rationale behind the A and B list artiste been made by GHAMRO but he was told that is how the system is.

“That means if Sarkodie releases 10 songs in a year and I don’t, we are all A list artistes we still get the same amount of money, it does not make sense,” he stated.

According to him, the royalties from GHAMRO can’t buy him champagne at his club and not interested in the money of the institution but rather focused on his music and other business that will fetch him money.
