Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken to Facebook to speak to the recent exchange between Hon. Felix Kyakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the ruling NDC government and Member of Parliament (MP) for Abura Asebu-Kwamankese (AKK) Constituency, and Hon. Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South. The debate centers on allegations that certain flights in Ghana recently transported illicit cargo, a claim that has sparked significant controversy in recent days.
Ahiagbah criticized Hon. Felix Kyakye Ofosu for what he described as “ongoing denial and avoidance” regarding the allegations, particularly in light of President John Mahama’s directive for the matter to be investigated. “Felix, your ongoing denial and avoidance regarding the Rev. Ntim and the minority alleged cocaine situation is not only disheartening, it’s fundamentally dishonest,” Ahiagbah stated, emphasizing the need for transparency.
He accused Hon. Kwakye of spreading falsehoods and manipulating public perception, stating, “You’ve had numerous chances to come forward with the truth, but instead, you choose to spread falsehoods, distort the narrative, and manipulate public perception. We’re not naive.”
Calling for accountability, Ahiagbah urged the AKK lawmaker to prioritize transparency over public relations tactics. He criticized his dismissal of Hon. Ntim Fordjour’s concerns, stating, “Calling a fellow member of parliament who has raised such serious issues a clown is against parliamentary practice.”
In a stern conclusion, the NPP communicator warned Felix that the truth would inevitably come to light. “Felix, consider this your wake-up call. The truth always comes out. Your lies are falling apart, and no amount of manipulation can restore trust once it’s been damaged. Step up and do better,” he asserted.
Ahiagbah also underscored the importance of allowing investigations to proceed as directed by the president. He expressed concern over Felix’s dismissal of the issue, saying, “You as the government spokesperson rubbishing an issue the president has asked to be investigated is a serious issue.”
