The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly denied allegations that he walked out of the studios of Joy News’ Newsfile program during a recent panel discussion.
The controversy arose after a video circulated on social media, purportedly showing Rev. Fordjour leaving the studio mid-program.
However, in a statement shared via his official Twitter account, the MP clarified that he was only scheduled for a specific segment of the show and departed only after his assigned portion had concluded.
“I never walked out of *Newsfile*, contrary to what Samson Ayenini and Sammy Gyamfi put out,” Rev. Fordjour stated. “I was billed for only a particular segment and was told another panelist was to take over after my segment. I left after it was fully concluded, and a break was taken to allow for my exit while my replacement took her seat.”
Rev. Fordjour went on to allege that the video shared by NDC Communications Director Sammy Gyamfi was deliberately staged to mislead the public.
He accused Gyamfi of filming his exit and falsely broadcasting it with claims that he had stormed out of the program.
He also criticized host Samson Ayenini, claiming the journalist had acted with bias and hostility both on and off air.
According to Rev. Fordjour, Ayenini made prejudiced remarks about him before, during, and after the show, suggesting an intent to tarnish his reputation.
“Samson, immediately after resuming from the break, mischievously stated I had walked out of the show because of messages he had read. Listen to what he said before I entered, while I was in the studio, and imagine what he said after I left,” Rev. Fordjour noted.
He concluded his statement by urging the public to disregard the circulating claims and called the narrative a deliberate attempt to smear his image.
“Please disregard his claim and the false video of Sammy Gyamfi – it was staged, not coincidence. I stayed through the full segment I was billed for and exited after. Have a blessed Sunday,” he said.
