Some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ketu South Municipality, have asked the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Edem Elliot Agbenorwu to ‘resign amicably’ to save the party’s interest.
The polling station executives are accusing the MCE, of financial [ads1]malfeasance and neglect of the party members with the Municipality.
The executives in a press conference in Aflao today, alleged that an amount of GHc98,000 is missing from the accounts of the assembly and have therefore petitioned the President to call for an immediate audit into the matter.
Macfamous Kudolo, a Polling Station Secretary, averred that the missing funds is a clear indication of the MCE’s incompetence.
He further stated that the relationship between the MCE and the polling station executives is indefensible.
“He is not supporting us. If we are in trouble and you call him, he will not pick the phone because he has not managed the resources of the municipal assembly well. That is why we are asking for his resignation.”
The MCE, Edem Elliot Agbenorwu, however, denied the allegations.
He told Citi News, the claims were “dumbfounding”, adding that, if there was any malfeasance, he will be summoned by the appointing authority, since the audit is conducted every year.
“Every year, auditors come to audit the assembly and audit reports are written and presented to the assembly and management responses to audit reports are sent to auditors. If they are not okay with it, they take you to the PAC [Public Accounts Committee].”
