Although information largely suggests that the Covid-19 patients who succumb to the global plague normally die with underlying conditions, Dr. Jehu Appiah maintained that the autopsy reports are necessary to go the full hog in estimating the extent of the killer virus.

“It must not end there; maybe we need to dig deep and get autopsy reports on the reported deaths. It might help to a large extent to produce extensive and quality data in relation to the deaths attributed to the coronavirus,” the opposition health expert told host Kweku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM on Wednesday.

His comment comes after the nation’s Covid-19 death toll inched up to 16 from 11 as of Saturday.

This was disclosed by the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye on Tuesday.

Positive cases of the Virus in Ghana have also risen to 1,671 from 1,550.

Addressing a Press Conference Tuesday, Dr Aboagye stated that 1,461 are doing well with no symptoms and are currently responding to treatment. He added six are moderate to critically ill.
