Rejoinder: Malicious, scandalous and defaming publications against Jim Morti

  1. It has come to the attention of the Office of Jim Yao Morti, the former Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant for Ketu South Constituency of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Volta Region, some malicious, scandalous and defaming publications against the respected businessman.
  2. The said publications which could best be described as sponsored fabricated stories by political opponents and their boot leaking stomach and unprofessional journalists were published online on GhanaWeb.com, modernGHANA.com, newsghana.com, 3news.com and The Catalyst Newspaper
  3. The said publications suggested that, Mr. Jim Morti has engaged in some criminal activities. Interestingly, all the publications could not present any documentary evidence to those unfounded allegations and the writers of these stories also never sought Mr. Morti’s response and or comment on the said demining allegations but went ahead to publish same.
  4. The Office of Mr Jim Motri, therefore, wish to state clearly that:
  5. He has not been engaged in any criminal activities and therefore has not been arrested and arranged before court
  6. 3news.com reported that he has been arrested by the Economic and Organized Crime Office which we stated that, Mr. Jim Mort was picked up in a traffic in Accra in a Rambo-style fashion by some armed men claiming to be officers from EOCO. They took Mr. Morti to the Office of EOCO and detained him for close to four hours. Interestingly, no statement was taken from him neither was he charged with any offense. Therefore, the report pointing to one direction that his distractors in the Ketu South race fears his candidature hence went all out to use the state security to create non-existing story and leaked same to the media. It is very disappointing that the EOCO as a state institution would allow its officers to be used by political hungry dogs to achieve their parochial interest. We dare the Media General and the 3news.com to proceed to the EOCO to find out if Mr. Jim Morti’s statement had been taken and the crime for which he was arrested. We dare them to publish the statement taken by EOCO if there is any.
  7. MRr Morti had not lied anywhere of his date of birth. Though, born of Sunday, he is name after his grand father who is a warrior hence the Yao name.
  8. Mr. Morti had not attended a Ghanaian university at his undergraduate level and so is not obliged to do national service
  9. Mr. Morti attended aviation school in Ghana and Makerere University in Uganda and has certificates to that effect.
  10. Jim Morti is indeed an EMBA student at the University of Ghana School of Business.
  11. Jim Morti has never been a director and or worker of any company called Precious Stones Resources Ltd. We dare anyone to file a search at the Registrar General’s  Department to this effect. He has equally not come in contact with any American businessman named Subhash Neuir. There have never been any time that former President John Kufour or his office informed Mr. Morti of any petition received against him.
  12. Mr. Morti has never known or worked with any person called Francis Asante alias Nana Yaw and Joseph Kwesi Agbetoh and had not involved in any gold business with the said names.
  13. Mr. Morti owes no person called Samuel Owusu an amount of (GH10,000) from any company called BVBA BOSKOUTER GHANA LTD for rent of an apartment in Adjiringanor, Accra. Indeed, if Jim Morti owes, the courts are there for the affected person to seek redress.
  14. Mr. Morti wish to state on record that he has decided to contest the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate and dare anyone who has evidence of any activities in the past for which they are fabricating stories against him to report him to the Police.
  15. Jim Morti, therefore, wish to advise these media houses to delete those stories and apologies for same. Failure to do this, will force him to take every legal step to correct this unethical, unprofessional and scandalous behavior of these journalists and their media houses.
