Customers of the defunct gold dealership firm have called on parliament again to reject President Nana Akufo Addo’s minister-designate for finance.

The minister who is going for his second term as Finance minister is faced with a call to the Appointment Committee of Parliament from a group of Menzgold customers for his rejection. The customers emphasized that the Finance Minister nominee, Ken Ofori-Atta does not have the country at heart.

The nominee took his turn today Thursday 25th March, 2021 before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for his vetting at 10:00am.

These Menzgold customers are of the view that the failure of the minister nominee who served in the same capacity previously to reimburse their funds to them after two years of the company’s closure by the government classified him a failure and should not be given the node to take care of the country’s finances again. Adding that his actions prove he is insensitive.

The leader of the group Fred Forson who was speaking to Power FM said “Ken Ofori-Atta doesn’t deserve to be Ghana’s Finance Minister. During the first term of President Akufo-Addo, what did he do to protect the people’s investment at Menzgold? He only introduced killer taxes to collapse our businesses”.

“How did a lot of people lose their investments?” he quizzed and said the Finance Minister was the reason the government never attended to the customers who lost their savings in the process.

“Give me one innovative policy he (Ken Ofori-Atta) has brought on board ever since he assumed office. All he knows is how to borrow. He reads budget and the next day he’s going for Eurobond”, Mr. Fred Forson said.

While calling on parliament for his rejection, he also maintained that the nominee Finance Minister was the reason the government never attended to the customers of the defunct gold dealership firm.
