Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to prioritize truth and integrity over financial inducements, especially from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 elections.
Addressing a gathering in Juapong, North Tongu, Volta Region, the former President emphasized the need for citizens to vote based on their conscience rather than succumbing to bribes.
Mr. Mahama further cautioned Ghanaians not to be influenced by bribes from political parties, saying “If they give you money, take it and chop.” He added that “Vote for the truth. Vote for the party that has the interest of Ghana at heart.”
The NDC flagbearer’s statement comes in the wake of recent allegations of vote-buying and electoral malpractices in Assin North during the bye-elections.
With the 2024 polls fast approaching, Mahama’s call to action is seen as a timely reminder for Ghanaians to prioritize the country’s interests over personal gains.
