REJOINDER
“RAWLINGS SNUBS MAHAMA AT NDC’s MMDCEs CONB”.
The above banner headline which appeared on the front page of Wednesday, May 16, 2018 edition of your newspaper the Daily Guide referred.
The said publication as appeared was widely carried by other media outlets including radio, online and social media.
Your publication was malicious, diabolic, fabricated and mischievously calculated at bringing unexisting enmity between President Rawlings and President Mahama, using our conference as the vehicle which is unacceptable.
The publication also geared towards destroying the very germ and success stories of the maiden National Conference of Ex-MMDCEs who were opportune to have served as appointees of Presidents Rawlings, JEA Mills and John Mahama.
The conference received the fullest blessings of both Presidents and the National Executive Committee NEC of the NDC.
The two former Presidents knew they were both coming as our guests.
Ministers of State, MMDCEs and other high profile personalities have variously represented Presidents at functions across the globe and this was not the first and cannot be the last time.
We thus find it unfortunate that your Newspaper chose to use such unfounded reportage to interpret the Founder’s absence; especially when his representative (Mr Nuamah Donkoh) told us the reason for his inability to personally be present at the function.
Former Prez Rawlings attached so much importance to the conference to the extent that, in spite of his ill health on that fateful day, he sent Hon Samuel Nuamah Donkoh to represent him.
Therefore, there was nothing close to he snubbing anybody.
The said reportage was not only colored but just a mere assumption coming from Daily Guide.
We hold Founder Rawlings and Former President Mahama in high esteem as persons who once represented them in our various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
We are not only proud of their achievements but also proud to be part of the success stories of past NDC regimes.
The Conference chose “Reorganising the NDC for victory 2020: The Role of Ex-MMDCEs” as its theme, and invited the Founder as Special Guest of Honor and Prez Mahama as Special Guest Speaker.
The messages delivered by both personalities and that of the NDC General Secretary, National Chairman and Minority Leader in Parliament were just apt and very refreshing.
The national conference of Ex-MMDCEs which was successfully organized in conjunction with NEC has nothing to do with the unprecedented Unity Walk been Organized by some highly respected individuals of our party. It can also not be an appendix of the unity walk as claimed by the Daily Guide in the said report.
We also want to put it on record that, the conference was solely funded by the Ex-MMDCEs.
The conference resolved amongst other things to help contribute in the areas of intelligence gathering, research and communications to ensure the NDC’s victory in the 2020 general elections.
We demand a retraction of the said story and unqualified apology for publishing that falsehood.
Thanks
