Marcus Rashford is reportedly determined to join FC Barcelona this summer, even after enjoying a resurgence in form while on loan at Aston Villa during the second half of the 2024/25 season.
The 27-year-old forward was linked with a switch to the Catalan giants during the January transfer window, but Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles prevented any deal from being finalized.
Instead, Rashford moved to Villa, where he’s managed three goals and five assists under Unai Emery, sparking renewed interest from multiple clubs.
Despite strong competition and a potential £40 million price tag, Rashford still views Barcelona as his ideal destination.
Spanish outlet Sport reports that his representatives have communicated a clear preference for the La Liga side, even amid doubts about whether the club can afford the transfer.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is said to admire Rashford’s abilities, but the club’s financial limitations and the standout performances of their current attacking options may delay any move unless circumstances change.
Other suitors like Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa remain in the picture, while BBC Sport adds that Rashford has ruled out any transfer to London, which excludes Arsenal and Chelsea.
He also prefers to join a club playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, a factor that could impact Villa’s chances.
Rashford, who is not open to being included in any swap deals, will reportedly make a final decision by mid-June.
However, given his current salary of around £350,000 per week, any move is likely to require a significant wage cut.
