Protecting Public Purse: Mahama stops bulk distribution of his portrait

In his quest to protecting the public purse, President John Mahama’s first day in office has seen some promising signs.

The Presidency has release the official portrait of the President but stated that no person or business will be contracted by government to distribute same in bulk. This was contained in a press statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu the acting Spokesperson for the President.

Over the years, it appears governments contract companies print in bulk and distribute to government agencies and departments.

With the directive from the President, it is however not clear if the the president saying that no offices, agencies and ministries should hang his portraits or respective agencies and governments departments will be allowed to print their own.

Former President Mahama made history to become the first former president to have been elected after loosing to another political party in his second term bid.

During the 2024 campaign, President Mahama vowed the project the public purse by drastically cutting down expenditure.
