Prof. (Sr.) Eugenia Amporfu is an economist and a professor in economics with experience spanning over twenty-six (26) years.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with first class honors from the St. Francis Xavier University in Canada, a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Victoria in Canada and a PhD in Economics from Simon Fraser University in Canada.
Prof. Amporfu has been teaching in the Economics Department in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana since 2006. She is currently the dean of the Faculty of Social Science at the University. She also the leader of the Ghanaian National transfer Account team.
Her research area covers Health Economics and demographic dividend using the National Transfer Account (NTA). She has worked with the Ghanaian NTA team to produce research papers, two of which are being reviewed for publication. She led the Ghanaian team to train government technocrats from Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Gambia in demographic dividend using the NTA approach. She has presented research papers in several conferences.
She has served as a consultant for organizations such as UNFPA, Results for Development, Contracta UK Ltd, African Health Economics Association, DANIDA among others. She has also led research teams for various research with funding from IDRC, AERC, among others. Prof. (Sr) Eugenia Amporfu has served on a number of boards and committees, departments and faculties both home and abroad.
She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Ghana, a member of the Fiscal Responsibility Advisory Council and the KNUST representative on the governing Council of Garden City University College.
