Late Prof. James Robert Kwesi Anquandah, Ghana’s foremost Archaeologist and First Ghanaian to Head the Department of Archaeology at the University of Ghana – Legon will on October 29, 2019 have a Foundation launched to honor his contributions to the development of Ghana.
Prof. Anquandah who headed the first Archaeology Department to be established in Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa died on September 7, 2017 and a lecture will be held on the same date, October 29, 2019 at Bank of Ghana Auditorium, Department of Economica, University of Ghana in hourn of him.
The lecture which is on the theme “Preserving Africa’s True Historyand Culture” will be addressed by HRM (Prof.) Dorlor Bosso Adamtey I, the the Suapolor of the Se (Shai) Traditional Area under the chairmanship of Professor Samuel Agyei-Mensah, Provost College of Humanities of the University of Ghana.
He served as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Acted as Pro-Vice Chancellor,, of the University of Ghana and has over 50 publications and mounted several exhibitions.
According to the organizers of the programme, “One of his greatest Legacies was the training of over three generations of Ghanaian and non Ghanaian archaeologists, several of who are currently contributing their quota to national Development.”
