The Governing Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has appointed Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, as new Rector for the school.
A letter dated 19th August, 2021, and signed by Julius Atikpui, secretary of the institute, confirming the appointment said, “the Governing Council of the Institute at the second sitting of its 48th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 considered the report of its Search Committee for Rector and upon the Committee’s recommendation accordingly appointed Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, as the Rector of GIMPA with effect from September 1, 2021 for a 4-year term.”
Prof Kwaku Bonsu takes over from Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson, whose tenure ends on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Before his appointment, Prof Bonsu was the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (APQA) at GIMPA.
He attended Prempeh College (now Prepeh Senior High School) in Kumasi. He later studied at Simon Fraser University, Canada and the University of Rhode Island, the USA, where he obtained a PhD in Business Administration.
He joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro thereafter for two years. He then later joined the prestigious Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto, Canada, where he became a tenured professor.
He is a marketing expert, teacher and researcher of global repute, taking into account his ground-breaking published works in the most prestigious journals in consumer research.
Prof Kwaku Bonsu earlier held other positions at the institute, including Dean of GIMPA Business School and Dean of the School of Governance and Leadership. And he currently serves on the Boards of both local and international organizations, including as current Chairperson of UN PRME Africa, a United Nations initiative.
