Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, the former Board Chair of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), has pleaded not guilty to charges in the $2 million Sky Train case.

He appeared before the High Court in Accra on Monday, May 26. Charges include causing financial loss to the state, conspiracy, and misuse of public funds. The court granted him GHC10 million bail with two justified sureties.

Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi faces trial with former GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah, who also pleaded not guilty.

The case involves the alleged misuse of $2 million meant for the Accra Sky Train project, which never took off. The Attorney General’s office claims the funds were released without proper authorization, leading to financial loss.

Earlier court sessions were delayed due to health concerns raised by Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s lawyers.
