The Wellness Clinic Coordinator at the Ketu South Health Directorate, Mr. Hope Kuffour, has advised artisans to prioritize their health by staying away from drug abuse.
Speaking at workshop organized by Vol-Link Roofing Company on Sunday August 12, 2024 at Lente Wute in the Ketu South municipality, Mr. Kuffour urged the participants to avoid the use of unprescribed drugs and excessive alcohol. He also urge them to regularly check their health status to achieve economic goals and promote livelihoods.
Mr. Kuffour warned artisans against self-medicating, leading to drug abuse and harm adding that people often take medicines without knowledge and even if previously prescribed.
According to him, the Wellness Clinic by the Ghana Health Service offers free monthly health tests to clients with or without National Health Insurance. The clinic he says provides patients with free wellness checks, BMI, BP, and sugar tests hence he entreated artisans to enroll and participate regularly as it will help them for early sickness detection.
Vol-Link Roofing System is a Volta based roofing company and as part of their corporate social responsibility embarked on periodic workshops in the region to educate artisans on health, wellness, financial discipline whiles sharing the company’s products and services.
The company also aims to engage artisans regionally, providing training platforms to sustain their skills.
The maiden edition saw at least close to Twenty artisans mainly carpenters in that part of the Municipality who participated in the workshop.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the programme, promised to consider training as yardstick to sustain their skills to promote their livelihoods.
