SUBJECT: Setting the Record Straight – Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba’s Passport Not With Me
- It has come to my attention that Togbe Sei II known in private life as Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba has filed a complaint against me and my friend (name withheld) at Ghana’s Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) that we are both holding his Ghanaian passport
- Among other things, Mr. Gbadagba has also accused me of extorting money from him in bid of “retrieving” his passport for him
- I see this report to the BNI and the allegations herein as baseless and total dishonest at the part of Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba who became my friend somewhere in October 2016 and wish to set the record straight.
- I have not taken any money from Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba to “retrieve” his passport rather I took GHc600.00 from him to help solve a problem he was confronted with in January this year.
- I will urge the BNI to thoroughly and equally investigate Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba (Togbe Sei II)
The Issue:
- In January this year, I had a call from Nelson’s former girlfriend, Pat who said she will like to meet me urgently and I made myself available. At the said meeting in a bar on the Spintex Road in Accra, Pat said Togbe Sei II (Nelson Gbadagba) had a serious problem with one Chinese lady (name withheld) – CL who is currently in Accra lodging with Uncle George (who is both Togbe and the Chinese lady’s common friend) to report him to the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Immigration Service. According to Pat, though Togbe had broke up with her about two months ago, she will not wish his name goes into the media and or get arrested by the Police over the issue hence her intervention to let’s the Chinese lady hold on till she (Pat) speaks to Togbe’s brother (which is me). I told Pat she has taken the right steps and assured her I will solve the issue through ADR.
- According to Pat, the Chinese lady said when Togbe was in China last year, Togbe was proposing to marry her (the Chinese lady) and that he (Togbe)’s wife is dead in Ghana but the CL said she was not interested. The CL told Pat that despite refusing to marry Togbe, she was help Togbe in China to pay for his apartment and office rent. CL also said Togbe had asked her to work with her in China which she was doing with no pay.
- CL said Togbe then told her clothing business is very lucrative in Ghana and that he will want CL to borrow him some money to buy some shirts and ship to Ghana for sale.
- CL said she had taken her credit card to borrow money from banks in China to the tune of over USD27,000.00 somewhere in August 2019.
- CL said Togbe upon reaching Ghana and clearing the good at the port (round November 2019) – a clearing fee that CL also paid, Togbe remove her (CL) from a common whatsapp platform that Togbe created and added her with some Ghanaian prospective shirt buyers.
- CL said Togbe also refuse to the pay her the money meanwhile all the creditor (Banks) were chasing her hence her effort to come to Ghana through the invitation of Uncle George to meet Togbe Sei II to take her money.
- Upon meeting the CL myself, she confirmed all that Pat said and added more details.
- CL then told meet she has all the believe that Togbe intended to defraud her and that Togbe has two valid Ghanaian passports, one expires in October 2020 and the second one expire in May 2029 – she then shown my the software copy of the passport and Togbe’s whatsapp chats with her.
- Uncle George then told me they (He and CL) has file a complaint against Togbe at the Police and Immigration after they met Togbe at Accra Mall on January 1, 2020 and Togbe said he wants to pay the money in installment (Gh10,000) per month.
- Uncle George also said Togbe said he wants to sell a car (Hyundai elantra) he partly at 40,000GHc and give CL Ghc20,000.00 but CL insisted she will have to take all the 40k from the sale of the car.
- George said upon getting a buyer for the car and Togbe sent the car it was discovered that the car was registered in someone else name so it was difficult for the person to buy the car and that the car was still at the person who wanted to by the car.
My meeting with Togbe and how he gave me GHc600.00 he is claiming I have extorted from him.
- On January 8, 2020 I met with Togbe at the Accra Mall together by my friend who is a former security officer. Togbe admitted to me and my friend all that CL said
- There, I told him to get me some money that I will give my friend to use as transportation so we can together meeting the Police and immigration officers to withdrawn the issues from the police so we can solve the problem between him and the CL. I reminded Togbe that I had bailed him and got him a lawyer in another unresolved case before he left for China and that this issue gets to the media will tarnish his image and that my the time he defense himself the damaged would have already been caused.
- I told to the only part of the nitration of the CL was the double passport issue is the only thing he might have problem with the police and that my friend will work to get that issue ratified at the Passport office since he had no intention of having two passports for do anything wrong.
- I then proposed Togbe gets Ghc1000 so we can get the issue resolved. He then told me he can only get Ghc700 on that day. He then said he said no money on him and kept GHc100 and gave me GHc500 to give to my friend.
- I then used the GHc100 to take transport to Odokor to take the Hyundai elantra from the buyer because we fear if he goes there he might be arrested.
- After going for the car and getting home around 10pm, Togbe came for the case around 11:50pm in a manner that suggested i had stolen the car.
- The following day, Togbe called my friend and told my friend not to go to the Passport Office to ratify the double valid passport issue and that he (Togbe) had spoke to an Immigration Office who said is not wrong having to passports.
- Togbe then went into hiding, and refused to accept my proposal to him that since he had no money to pay but had the goods (shirt) imported from the China in my warehouse, let’s go into an agreement to hand over the goods to the CL and George.
- The unavailability of Togbe to get the agreement sign made the case to travel to the Police CID Head Office in Accra. I had to spend over 3 days doing to the Police CID Head office and helping restore hope to the Chinese lady she will get the goods and sell to help defray the loan.
- Togbe never showed up until the day CL was at the Airport to leave Ghana. Togbe came to the Police CID office
- About a week after the CL left Ghana, I got a lawyer to sign the agreement between Togbe and Uncle George who had power of attorney for CL and the good handed over to George.
- After I help to get the issue resolved, a week later Togbe through the assistance of one former security Officer, Foster went to launched a complaint against me and friend at the BNI saying we extorted money from him to give him his passport and had since not given him the passport when he Togbe is fully aware that he left the passport in question (May 2029) with CL in China before entering Ghana last year with the other passport (the October 2020).
- On the face of all this fact and truths (which I can make all documents available) Togbe in on a mission just to destroy my image with this passport issue and other serious allegations.
- It has come to my attention also that Togbe (Nelson Mawuli Gbadagba) is planning to travel to the United State of America under the invitation on another woman (name withheld) who is a lawyer in the USA and in his bid of getting the US visa had to do all it can to get the passport that expires on the 2029. This US travel is what motivated him to file a divorce petition against his wife (name withheld)
- On the other serious allegations i will take every necessary steps to prove my innocence.
