The novelty the party leadership has employed is its resolve to disallow any of the seven aspirants to visit the polling stations on the D-Day with their personal security.

The party has tasked security at the polling stations to the Ghana Police Service (GPS), and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah explained that the party had requested the GPS to deploy personnel from the local divisions to deal ruthlessly with anybody who would attempt any violence at the venues.

The NDC General Secretary said the party had picked intelligence that some thugs had been hired to infiltrate in the process to give the party bad press, therefore, the stern decision by the party leadership to give only the police the singular mandate to provide security to everybody including the aspirants, once in the radius of the polling station.

He said the serious plot to undermine the good posture of the NDC during the presidential primaries, with reference to the shooting incident at the Kumasi headquarters of the party on February 18, 2019, had not been taken with a pinch of salt, therefore, the exclusive duty of only the police from the constituencies to provide security to everybody.

“Nobody, besides the GPS, is going to be allowed to provide private security to any candidate at the polling stations, and we have communicated this to all the candidates,” he reiterated.
