President John Dramani Mahama will welcome his Czech Republic counterpart, President Petr Pavel, for a three-day state visit to the country.
The visit, per a statement from the government spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, will take place from April 8 – 10, marking the first such visit by a Czech leader since diplomatic ties were established between Ghana and Czechoslovakia in 1959.
The trip also represents President Mahama’s first hosted state visit since his return to office three months ago.
“President Petr Pavel will hold bilateral talks with President Mahama, address a business forum, inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility, and visit the Osu Castle and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park,” the statement noted.
The historic visit underscores deepening ties between the two nations, with Ghana seeking to bolster trade and investment opportunities with the Czech Republic.
President Mahama will also honor his counterpart with a state dinner, a ceremonial highlight of the diplomatic itinerary, the press release added.
