In a significant stride towards reinforcing his administration’s commitment to integrity and transparency, President John Dramani Mahama is poised to unveil a stringent Code of Conduct for all government appointees today, Monday, May 5, 2025.
This landmark initiative forms a crucial part of the implementation of his administration’s 120-day Social Contract, underscoring the government’s resolve to promote responsible governance and intensify the fight against corruption.
According to the Minister in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, this week marks a pivotal moment in the government’s reform agenda.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, May 4, 2025, Ofosu highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “President Mahama enters an important week in which stock will be taken off the rollout of his 120-day Social contract. It begins with the unveiling of a strict Code of Conduct to regulate the activities of all appointees and ensure transparency and accountability in government.”
The Code of Conduct, first announced during the swearing-in of ministers, aims to establish unequivocal ethical standards for public officials, delineating the dos and don’ts of public service. By doing so, the administration seeks to eliminate ambiguity and reinforce its commitment to integrity, thereby fostering a culture of accountability and transparency in governance.
This initiative is expected to serve as a framework for accountability, guiding the conduct of appointees across various sectors of government.
President Mahama emphasized that the code will be instrumental in promoting responsible governance and upholding the highest standards of integrity in public service.
