President John Dramani Mahama has appointed a new set of District Chief Executives (DCEs) for eight of Ghana’s 16 regions, continuing his government’s efforts to improve local governance and drive development.

This decision is in line with the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which emphasizes the importance of effective district administration in achieving national development goals.

The newly appointed DCEs will be responsible for overseeing their districts, ensuring that local services run smoothly, and implementing key development projects to benefit their communities.

These appointments are aimed at filling vacant positions and ensuring that local leadership is in place to enhance governance and public service delivery.

A statement from the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, confirmed that the appointees must be approved by their respective District Assemblies before they can officially take office.

The move reflects President Mahama’s vision to promote effective leadership at the grassroots level, contributing to the overall growth and development of the country.

By strengthening local governance, the government aims to improve the delivery of essential services and better address the needs of communities.
