Eight persons are in the custody of the Tema Regional Police Command for allegedly robbing a company in Kpone.

The suspects are Stephen Mensah, 27, Emmanuel Mensah, 29, Clement Gyasi, 32, and Abdulah Mohammed.

The rest are Andrews Koffie, 32, Joe Amoah, 37, and Kwame Danso, 29, and they are due to be put in the dock tomorrow March 27, 2019.

According to a source at the Tema Regional Command, the Kpone District Police, at about 12.05 am March 24, received information that armed men, numbering about 10, had scaled the wall of a trading company located in the Kpone Municipality and held the night watchman and two drivers’ mates hostage.

After locking them up in one of the company’s offices, the suspects drove a truck into the compound and forced one forty-footer container, which contained various appliances open and loaded items including air conditioners and TV sets into the waiting truck, and sped off.

Luck, however, eluded the leader of the robbery gang, Johnson Nti, who is an employee of the said company, when he was spotted in a moving vehicle by the complainants. Police were alerted and he was subsequently arrested to assist with investigations.

After a search in suspect’s house, Johnson led police to an uncompleted building at Kpone-Kokompe, where they had stashed their booty.

Police retrieved 61 different brands of air conditioners, two LG flat screen television sets, one Midea water dispenser and one Nasco kettle from the uncompleted building.

A further search in suspect’s car revealed a bottle, which was similar to one that was picked up at the crime scene, and two machetes suspected to have been used for the robbery.

He led police to arrest his seven accomplices who were hiding at various places within the municipality.
