The Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, does not seem to run out of excuses after it blamed Tuesday’s rainstorm in Accra for the power outages some sections of the national capital are experiencing.
According to the ECG, customers who are experiencing power outages should understand that the rainstorm caused it. It said the “heavy rainstorms experienced today” caused the outages within the distribution network.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited wishes to inform our cherished customers in the Greater Accra Region that the heavy rainstorm experienced today, Tuesday, 23rd April, 2024 has caused outages within the distribution network.”
According to the power distributor, its engineers are working around the clock to restore supply to affected customers. It urged customers who re experiencing power outages to contact the call centre or reach them on social media.
“Customers should please note that our Engineers are working assiduously to restore power supply to affected customers.
“Customers experiencing outages within their areas should kindly contact our call center on 0302611611, report to the nearest ECG office or reach us on our social media handles @ECGghOfficial.”
Despite the ECG apportioning blame to the rainstorm, there have been constant power outages in parts of Accra since last week. On Tuesday, before the rainstorms, there were outages in parts of Accra.
