Police officer drowns during galamsey operation in Assin Asaman

A devastating incident has occurred in Assin Asaman, where Constable John Kwabena Dogbe, a police officer, tragically lost his life while embarking on an operation to combat illegal mining, also known as galamsey.

The officer was part of the Central North Regional Police command’s efforts to curb this illicit activity.

Unfortunately, Constable Dogbe accidentally fell into the River Offin and drowned during the operation. His body was later recovered after an extensive search by the local police and rescue team.

The circumstances surrounding the officer’s drowning are still unclear, and authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the events leading up to this tragic incident.

The body of the deceased officer has been deposited at the St. Francis Xavier hospital in Assin Fosu.
