Simon Agatiba has been reportedly arrested by the Ahafo Regional Police Command and currently in the Police custody for allegedly defrauding about twelve (12) nurses to the tune of GHc207,000, Awake News reports.
The suspect is also alleged to have told his victims that he is an officer of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Services.
According to some of the victims who spoke to Awake News, Simon Agatiba who is widely known in Sunyani as a Police CID has also sponsored the tilling of the Sunyani District Police station and had his name embossed on the wall at the station as the sponsor of the project.
The twelve, all nurses at Sunyai and one medical officer at the Sunyani SDA Hospital have accused the suspect of having collected from each of them the sums of GHc14,000; GHc28,000; GHc14,600; GHc17,000 (3 people); GHc28,000; GHc27,000; GHc15,000; Ghc30,000 in bid of helping them get nursing jobs in Canada and the United States of America.
Awake News sources say, the alleged CID impostor has severally been arrested by the Sunyani District Police Command over similar cases but was set free.
Speaking to Awake News, the Ahafo Regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector Augustine Kwesi Oppong said the alleged arrest of Mr. Simon Agatiba has not come to his attention.
