Alhaji Sinare has criticized Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP’s deceitful allowance payment to teachers and nurse trainees. He argued that this restoration and subsequent rushed payment was a calculated scam to deceive the trainees.
Said Sinare argued that John Mahama’s decision to replace the trainees’ allowance with a feeding grant was the best decision for the nation. He said the plan was to improve college infrastructure, eliminate the quota system and ensure automatic job placement for trainees after completion of their courses.
Highlighting the benefits of the two policies, Said Sinare said under Mahama’s policy, a trainee would receive a total of GHS28,560 (a semester feeding grant of GHS560 × 6 semesters (3 years) plus an average monthly salary of GHS2,100.00 for 12 months after completion of the course).
On the other hand, the NPP policy would give trainees a total of GHS16,260 (an allowance of GHS398 × 8 months × 3 years plus a National Service Scheme payment of GHS559 × 12 months). The NSS allowance does not include SSNIT contribution. He argued that the above coupled with the reintroduction of the quota system is a disservice to prospects and the nation.
Sinare urged the public, especially the trainees, to critically analyze Dr Bawumia’s promises, cautioning that he failed to fulfil many previous promises. He highlighted some unfulfilled promises, including the provision of one million dollars per constituency, the construction of 350 new senior high schools, the implementation of the “one village, one dam” project, No village will be left without Water and toilet facilities, and the establishment of a bank account for all Ghanaians.
