January 7 has been approved as Constitution Day and Founders’ Day will be celebrated on August 4 every year.

African Union Day, celebrated on May 25 and July 1 which was celebrated as Republic Day have been scrapped as holidays.

The passage of the Public Holidays Amendment Bill 2018 means that Founder’s Day celebrated on every September 21 will now be observed as a holiday but as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day.

The Bill was passed in the absence of the Minority who boycotted sitting in protest against the changes as they believe the NPP government is attempting to rewrite Ghana’s history.
