The chief of Mpasaaso No.2 in the Ashanti Region has been destooled by the Asantehene over multiple offences levelled against him at the sitting of the Kumasi Traditional Council.
Nana Amofa Twumasi II, who has served as ruler of Mpasaaso No.2 for 41 years, was accused questionable royal lineage and lack of oversight of accountability to the leadership of Mpasaaso community.
Other charge brought against him was his involvement in illegal mining activities, popularly called galamsey.
The destoolment of Nana Amofa Twumasi comes in less than two weeks after the Asantehene destooled Ohwimhene, Nana Kusi Baaye II.
Nana Baaye, who has served as the Ohwimhene for 16 years, was accused of extortion in a chieftaincy matter, unauthorized sales of land, including cemetery lands, and involvement in illegal mining activities.
But he was mainly summoned at the traditional council meeting over the reckless invocation of the Asantehene’s Great Oath (Ntamkese), which amounted to deceiving the Otumfuo and desecrating the Golden Stool.
