DEAR MR. KWAME SEFA KAYI

Good afternoon sir, I believe you are doing well? It’s been a while since I listened to your show, I believe its still as vibrant as it was?

Sir, I don’t know how to personally reach you with my concerns so I [ads1]decided to adopt a medium as imbibed in this old adage that states “if you want to send a message to the gods just speak into the air and the gods will hear you”.

Efo, I am soliciting the support of your platform on a matter of national importance. Being a “NATIONALISTIC” individual as I know of your desire to see Ghana work, will definitely take up this challenge.

Efo, I remember how you launched a good campaign on the number of John Mahama Community Day Schools that were built when the Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, then deputy minister of Education published a list of the schools at various stages of construction.

I remember how for well over one week you deployed your reporters across the country to go to the various construction sites and report to listeners the true state of affairs of the published list.

At that time your show was the must-listened, as Ghanaians were interested in what exactly was happening.

Mr. Kayi, I believe you were motivated by the sheer fact that as a Ghanaian, it was your duty to inform your listening public and I have no doubt that that spirit is still in you even today.

Why am I writing to you this afternoon? It is simple and straightforward. It also has to do with education and I am more than certain that you will take up this patriotic duty as well, as executed prior to January 7th, 2017.

As you are aware, the much talked about free SHS is running. All 1st year students in Ghana are enjoying the free SHS policy and government, its communicators and loyalists are hailing it. However, some images circulating on social media points to teething problems that is posing a danger to the policy.

Recently, pictures of school children in Anlo secondary school sitting on stones and broken plastic chairs to learn went viral on social media. Prior to that was that of a video from La Presby SHS where children were sitting on the floor and blocks to learn, giving rise to a rather unfortunate description “One SHS student, one block”.

This week an Accra based FM station, citi FM also did some work on the progress of the policy and they passed some unpalatable judgments on the policy.

I am sorry for writing too long sir, but all am trying to say is that, with your wide network and with the track record you have with the list of the Community Day Schools that were published by Sammy Ablakwa, I am of the firm conviction that you can do a fair job with this SHS brouhaha too.

Governments will tell their citizens their stories but you the media will tell us the “real story” as you sought to do with the published list of community day schools.

I will even be glad to be a volunteer reporter if you need my service.

Yours in service to the NATION

Dzifa K Gunu.

Atiavi, V-R
